Bring the best of the local harvest to your program with flavorful dishes that celebrate Harvest of the Month crops. Rooted in Flavor: Harvest of the Month Recipes Made Easy is our newest 3-hour interactive culinary workshop . Your team will create student approved scratch and speed-scratch recipes while sharpening flavor-building techniques and boosting skills and confidence with fresh, local ingredients.

Once your staff completes this workshop, take the next step by requesting a JSI chef-supported taste test. The JSI chef will lead a taste test event at your school and show your staff how to engage with students in sampling and collecting feedback to best promote upcoming menu items featuring local and seasonal Massachusetts produce. During this full-day training with the JSI chef during regular production hours – no professional development day needed – staff will practice following standardized recipes, quantity food production, food safety handling practices, menu promotion, and more!

Sweet, Savory, and Seasonal: What’s on the Menu?

Explore a variety of flavorful recipes that showcase seasonal produce in creative and approachable ways. From roasted vegetables, crisp apples, juicy pears, and hearty pasta to fresh salads and crispy kale, these dishes introduce fresh and creative flavor combinations that kitchen staff can bring back to their own school kitchens and share with students.
