New England Dairy engages and supports school nutrition programs. For more than 100 years, they’ve worked in New England to celebrate and promote all things dairy—farming, food, nutrition, and wellness. They do this by, supporting increased access to school meals and new dairy menu options through partnerships, promotion, and equipment and marketing grants for schools, providing continued education opportunities to school nutrition professionals, offering free marketing and nutrition education resources for cafeterias, classrooms, and beyond to highlight local dairy and support farm to school efforts. Here are the top 3 resources shared by New England Dairy to help school districts in the upcoming school year.

  1. Chill Out with Cold Milk Training and Toolkit: A recorded webinar and resources to help school nutrition professionals keep milk cold and appealing for students. Approved for 1 CEU by SNA and CDR. Schools that submit cold milk temperature surveys over the course of the school year will be entered for the chance to win a new refrigerated milk cooler.
  1. Real Facts About Real Dairy Webinar: This is a recorded webinar featuring Dayle Hayes and Dr. Roberty Murray. This session explores the nutritional contributions of dairy foods to student health and answers common questions related to dairy alternatives and flavored milk. Approved for 1 CEU by SNA and CDR.
  1. Dairy in Schools: This resource is where you can find the latest updates for school nutrition professionals. Updates include grant announcements, webinar opportunities, cooler offers, and monthly marketing resources.

Fun Fact…In our countdown to the Healthy Kids, Healthy Programs 2022 Summit on May 24, we asked each partner to share which session they were most excited about. New England Dairy picked Our History and Hope for the Future of School Meals session because it will be a positive session that will challenge folks to think about the future of school meals and the possibilities that exist. They look forward to seeing the ideas that come from the session and hope people leave feeling inspired and hopeful for the future.
