In response to the Massachusetts School Wellness Needs Assessment, the DESE Office for Food and Nutrition is pleased to offer for the 2nd year a State-Wide School Wellness Coaching Program to Massachusetts schools. Seven districts participated in the program this year to update their wellness policies and advance wellness in their districts.

The program pairs districts and schools with a School Wellness Coach who will help with:
- Assessing and updating the local wellness policy to meet both state and federal requirements
- Technical Assistance
- Action planning
- Creating and implementing wellness initiatives
- Monitoring and evaluating results
- Sharing success stories
At this time, SY21/22, the program is set to be held virtually via Zoom until in-person meetings resume. To be considered for this year’s program, please complete the School Wellness Initial Interest Survey by June 1th. Acceptances will be communicated the week of June 14th.
All questions regarding the program can be directed to Nicole Good, School Wellness Specialist, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education: Nicole.Good@mass.gov.
